Waitemata Rodney and NZPCA Rode2Eventing Champs 2024

Welcome to our very first Newsletter. Waitemata Rodney would like to welcome Area teams and Individual Entries from riders throughout NZ for our championship. We have an interim program sorted out, but this could change as we move along, so more on that later.

Our aim is to get as much information to you as soon as possible. Already we are working on entry fees for the individual classes, camping / admin fees as well, so you are all organised for applying for grants etc to get you here.

We would like to thank Papatoetoe for allowing us to use their wonderful grounds for champs again. They have been more than helpful, and they are already looking at their riders to form a full team.

As you all now know, the DC age has changed for champs. So now we have MT 16 and under, DC riders 20 and under, and A1 riders under 25. They will need up to x 3 NQS’s to be eligible for the teams. Waitemata Rodney are looking at a maximum of 45 riders per class, so it is important to get those entries in early. This applies to the non-champs’ entries as well. We are looking at holding a non-champ’s competition for the 80cm and 95cm riders. Depending on the entries there may be x 2 classes of each.

Parking will be tight, so we are recommending that all teams look at combining riders into a couple of trucks so there is plenty of room for everybody. There are NO power sites and not very much local accommodation, so be prepared for a REAL campout. Showers and toilets will be available.

We are working on the catering, and we are hoping that there will be food available for purchase from Thursday to Sunday. More on that later.

We have a fantastic Course Designer for the XC. Chris Ross is an international course designer and he is already working on the new jumps. This will not be a new course, but it will be an exciting course.

Introducing Marj Steiner as the Organising Committee chair,

and Irene Flynn as our Events Secretary. We will introduce more of the committee next time.

8 Months to go!!!
